Dr.
Branton, I am writing to you to recommend Professor Douglas
Eglington for a position at West Chester University in
the department of mathematics. I was excited to here that
Professor Eglington was interested in teaching at West
Chester University and hope that you will recognize his
abilities.
I am
currently a sophomore attending West Chester University
and have recently studied with Professor Eglington in
order to refresh my math skills. I first became acquainted
with Professor Eglington while in search of a math tutor.
I had researched many options before meeting and discussing
my situation with him. I can honestly say from a student's
point of view he exemplifies the essential qualities needed
in a math professor. This is the reason I chose to pay
for his services instead of utilizing the free services
the University offers.
After
being out of school for five years I was already at a
disadvantage, on top of that, I had always done poorly
in math. The first math class I attended at West Chester
I realized half way through I was going to need extra
help just to pass the class. Professor Eglington helped
me to attain a passing grade in that class, which I otherwise
would have had to repeat. This past semester I took my
second math class, and had Professor Eglington (from start
to the end of the semester) tutor me before my exams;
I am proud to say I achieved an A-.
I have
always struggled with math and I believe that many of
the issues I had were not only from my own weaknesses
but how some teachers instructed as well. Professor Eglington
has owned and operated Growth Management Consultants (tutoring
service) for 12 years. I can say from personal experience
that he is excellent in communicating a concept regardless
of the student's skill level. He finds ways to identify
a student's weaknesses, incorporate their strengths, and
help them overcome their inabilities.
I believe
Professor Douglas Eglington would be a welcomed asset
to West Chester University and hope to be able to attend
one of his classes in the near future.
